Web-based 3D visualization of simulation models and results

Since October 2015, SCALE GmbH is working on a project under the BMWi program "Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand (ZIM)" for WebGL-based online visualization of 3D geometries.

Since October 2015, SCALE GmbH is working on a project under the BMWi program "Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand (ZIM)" for WebGL-based online visualization of 3D geometries.

 

As part of the project a browser-based software product will be developed, which visualizes platform-independent simulation models and results. Due to the development of WebGL (Web Graphics Library) a technology is available, which enables a browser-based visualization of 3D geometries in a very effective way.

 

Focus of development is the performant transmission and the caching of simulation data for a quick visualization of geometries in the Web browser.

 

With the development of this technology SCALE will be able in future to offer additionally a quick visualization of data via Web interface for the existing simulation data management solutions CadMe, LoCo and CAViT. Apart from the advantages of the existing rich client based SDM solutions (offline availability, performance and optimum distribution of the total load) is additionally provided to users a lightweight web interface with an installation-free usage. According to the usage profile the user can choose the optimal solution.

 

The processing is done in close corporation with the Institute for Structural Analysis (ISD) of TU Dresden. SCALE GmbH is cooperating with ISD on different areas of the numerical analysis of structures and uncertainty modeling for a long time. The physical proximity of the project partner allows a close association and contributes significantly to successful project management.
