The amount of data has extremely increased in the last few years, particularly in CAE. Software solutions for the preparation of input data for simulations and for managing the resulting data are therefore of increasing importance.

Simulation data management (SDM) is nowadays a very important topic in the field of computer aided manufacturing of vehicles. A few years ago, a vehicle model for example in crash simulation comprised of only a single large input file. Today these models are modular in nature and consists of many individual components.

The complete input file for the Finite Element Solver is assembled based on these model components e.g. air bags, doors, dummies etc. All together, the level of detail of the models and thus the model size continue to increase. In addition, car manufacturers must take care of the increasing number of load cases. This means that the number and size of data is constantly increasing. This is not only valid for the computation but also for the experimental testing of the products in prototype status (CAT).

 

Demanding challenges for the SDM system include the management of the model components in a multi-user environment and an automated, simultaneous setup of the load cases under examination. Moreover, the automated flow of data from CAD to CAE, i.e. from the geometry representation to the integrated components is a very important are of activity. This also includes the consistency requirements and the transparency of meta-data based on the process chain CAD – Pre – SDM – Assembly – Simulation - Post processing. Fundamentally, the simulation data and process management can be divided into the following three areas:

  • Linking of CAD-CAE i.e. batch processing for integration/discretization of the component geometry (Pre-SDM).
  • Load case, input file and variant management as well as assembly.
  • Management of Simulation results (Post-SDM)

In this area, we offer services for the implementation of professional IT solutions with connectivity to existing database systems (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, ZODB, Durus).
