Symposium on International Automotive Technology (SIAT), January 2026Overview
In simulation-driven product development, many variants of CAE models (Computer Aided Engineering) are created. These models are produced by globally distributed teams. To maintain oversight and optimize collaboration, robust version management is essential.
The research project SAFECAR-ML demonstrates how AI automates the documentation of model changes and makes the use of simulation data more efficient.
Project highlights:
Efficient version management: Every model change is automatically recorded and documented. This preserves knowledge and improves collaboration among engineers.
AI-supported change documentation: Intelligent systems generate detailed comments on model changes. Manual, tedious documentation is eliminated.
Generative AI for SDM: With LLM-based approaches, content from Simulation Data Management (SDM) systems can be retrieved, created, and analyzed.
Long-term goal: Automated search, summaries, evaluation of simulation results, and recommendations for further model adjustments.
Funding & practical relevance: The project is funded by the BMBF under the “KI4KMU” program and supports the practical use of AI in small and medium-sized enterprises.
