Research Project KupferDigital2: Efficiency and Sustainability in the Copper Lifecycle

We are excited to announce the start of the project “Materialdatenraum zur Steigerung von Effizienz und Nachhaltigkeit des Kupferlebenszyklus (KupferDigital2)”. Together with other partners, this project will promote the efficiency and sustainability of the copper lifecycle through innovative digital solutions until early 2028.

      Sub-project of SCALE:
AI-based Material Cards and Ontology-based Process Mapping

As part of the KupferDigital2 project, the sub-project of SCALE focuses on developing AI-based calibration methods for copper material models and an ontology-based process mapping. The goal is to optimize and make transparent the copper lifecycle across all relevant processes – from production to processing to recycling – using state-of-the-art technologies. These innovative approaches contribute to increased resource efficiency and support the circular economy.

The project is funded by the BMBF and plays a significant role in enhancing sustainability and efficiency in copper management. It runs from February 1, 2025, to January 31, 2028.
